SITC (the Security Innovation and Technology Consortium Ltd) is an industry led, not-for-profit company limited by guarantee which is dedicated to promoting security industry growth through greater exploitation of innovation and technology in security solutions.
SITC receives its core funding from the South East of England Development Agency (SEEDA) and is one of seven ‘Sector Consortia’ supported SEEDA. However, it operates on a wider (Greater South East) geographical footprint and is open to members with appropriate activities and commitment to its goals from across the UK and overseas.
It has a board of directors drawn from a cross-section of the security industry (representing SMEs, Systems Integrators, End Users, Industry Associations and Research interests).
SITC’s board of directors are accountable to its members and, if your company becomes a member of SITC, it will be entitled to vote on the appointment of directors and other key policy decisions at SITC General Meetings. SITC Members take on a nominal (£1) legal commitment to underwriting the debts of SITC in the (unlikely) event of its insolvency.
SITC’s Vision, Mission and Strategic Goals
SITC mission is to help innovative regional businesses win a bigger share of the global market for security solutions. Its vision is to achieve global recognition for the Greater South East as a leading region for innovative security solutions by 2016. It will pursue four key strategic goals in order to achieve this:
Commitments Expected from SITC Members and Directors
SITC Members and Directors will be expected to share relevant market and technological knowledge and experience with SITC for the collective benefit of SITC members and the UK security industry. They should be willing to engage in partnerships and collaborations seeking to develop new innovative security solutions and take them to market. They will be expected to act in an open and transparent manner in all dealings with SITC and when representing or acting on behalf of SITC.
This does not preclude SITC Members and Directors seeking to derive commercial benefit from engagement with SITC or making use of support provided by SITC. However, where any SITC Member or Director leads a commercial activity supported by SITC, their ‘commercial lead’ role must be clearly differentiated from any ‘open’ support activities organised on behalf of SITC members.
Any failure to act according to the spirit of these commitments would form grounds for complaint to the SITC Board and possible revocation of SITC membership.
Please see SITC's Terms and Conditions for further details.
