James Brennan is a Chartered Engineer and the Director of KITS (Knowledge, Innovation, Technology, Science) Transfer Programmes with Sollerta Ltd, a specialist consultancy offering support and advice on project management, contract bidding and technology transfer. Sollerta is the UK partner in a number of EU Security Supply Chain development projects including Secure SME. James is also a founding Director of the Security Innovation and Technology Consortium (SITC).
Prior to joining Sollerta, James spent ten years supporting technology transfer in the DTI Small Business Service and as the South East’s Regional Director of the MoD’s Defence Diversification Agency.
Previously he worked in Production Engineering for Marconi and Racal Avionics, held several directorships including, Managing Director, Operations Director and Director/General Manager and spent two years with Grant Chartered Accountants as a Principle Consultant.
James is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology MIET and the Institute of Management Consultants MIMC.

James is a skilled and perceptive business analyst with engineering, manufacturing and commercial experience. He spent 25 years with major defence contractors taking R&D to the market, before moving to the world of SMEs. As Managing Director of an SME, he developed and grew the business before moving on to deliver step change improvements to several other SMEs, increasing their turnover and profitability. He moved into the DTI Business Links as Defence & Advanced Technology Adviser, advising and supporting businesses in diversification, knowledge, technology and science transfer. He then became Director of the MoD's Diversification Agency where he managed a team of 14 technology transfer specialists. He specialised in production engineering, using knowledge transfer and new technologies to achieve change and economic growth. Held several directorships including; Managing Director, Operations Director and Director/General Manager and spent two years with Grant Thornton Chartered Accountants as a Principal Consultant. Adept at developing strong strategic alliances and partnerships between SME’s and the business community.
