On registering, SITC Members can indicate their organisation's competences and the specific interests of individual contacts in the organisation in terms of these capability areas. These interests can be changed within members' online personal profiles and are used throughout the SITC website to automatically filter content to enable users to see content only relating to the capability areas that are of interest to them.
SITC defines its Capability Areas as follows:
Cyber Security & Information Assurance
All areas of Information Security and Assurance including logical access control, authentication, encryption, cryptography, application and end point security.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
All tools and services related to risk assessment, management of security controls and compliance with standards and regulations, security assessment and audits and security as part of a risk management and corporate governance framework.
Information & Communication Systems
All the technology, infrastructure and expertise associated with information technology, computing and communications aspects of security systems including command and control, intelligence, data mining, simulation and systems integration
Sensors & Detectors
All sensing and detection technologies and applications used in chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and forensic applications as well as scanning and screening technologies used for identifying threat or contraband items on persons or in luggage.
Surveillance & Tracking
All overt or covert surveillance and tracking systems and technologies utilising the visible, invisible and radio frequency electromagnetic spectrum including CCTV surveillance, video analytics, visual, radio, global positioning system and counter-surveillance techniques and technologies.
Transport & Physical Security
All other physical security, access control, security, policing and counter-terrorism related expertise, services and technologies applied in mass transit, crowded spaces, corporate or government settings, including specialist explosives and Counter-IED expertise, close protection and manned guarding.
Business Support Services
All organisations supporting businesses involved in developing or delivering security solutions by offering services such as project management, bid and marketing support, market intelligence, intellectual property advice, funding, venture capital, trade export, inward investment and other business advice, but not directly associated with delivering security capability.
