Improving Analytical Tools – The Future of Interrogating Data

Tuesday, 26 October 2010 from 12:00PM to 05:00PM

Venue: BIS Conference Centre, 1 Victoria Street, London. SW1H 0ET

Overview

Government Agencies & Police Forces in the UK are suffering from information overload. The advent of the internet and the exponential growth in computer technology and memory storage has led to an explosion in the amount of data that is gathered by the intelligence and law enforcement community. Coupled with the growth in CCTV, these organisations are overwhelmed with information. During the investigations into the London bombings in 2005, 90,000 hard drives and video tapes from CCTV systems were seized, together with 100 computers, 500,000 pages of photocopying, 4000 exhibits, 70 telephones and 10,000 statements.

There is a responsibility to capture, consolidate and interrogate massive volumes of structured and unstructured data. How do you make sense out of all the data coming in and then use it to make a difference?

SITC is hosting a half day seminar bringing together Users and SME’s to open the dialogue and provide a forum to identify the challenges faced by users with interrogating data effectively. Furthermore representatives from the SME community will provide insight into the latest innovative developments in data forensic technologies which can assist users in making informed, strategic decisions.
