Background

On Wednesday 9 November, 2011, A|D|S will be arranging their first ever Table Top Exhibition for public security equipment suppliers, in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Since 2007 Bulgaria has been a full member of the European Union, and plays an important role in strengthening the cooperation of security through-out the Balkan region. The country is currently fulfilling all technical requirements with regards to its Schengen accession, and the implementation of common standards on control and surveillance of the country's borders, are both EU and State funded.

In addition, the Bulgarian Government and Interior Ministry are placing increased efforts into strengthening the rule of law, with the government supporting measures to address illegality and the reforming of the judiciary system.  In particular there are opportunities available in the following areas:

• Bulgaria is currently updating all external borders
• The Ministry of Interior is looking at ways to improve border monitoring, security and customs database systems
• Major prison improvement programme to bring country in line with international standards
• Requirement for ports, railways and stations to be equipped with the latest technologies, including CCTV systems, human/drug detection scanners and access control systems etc.
• The Bulgarian Government recently adopted a 10-year Defence Strategy providing for the implementation of priority projects with funds in excess of 1 billion euros, covering the upgrading of ship navigation systems and the development of strategic intelligence systems

Booking

There is an administration fee of £795 + VAT (or £1045 + VAT for non A|D|S members) to participate in this event.  SITC members are eligible to book at the A|D|S members rate.
