CDE Cyber and Influence Science and Technology Centre Call Launch

Background

This half-day seminar launches and provides a briefing on a Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE) call, in conjunction with the Cyber and Influence Science & Technology Centre (C&I STC), which focuses on Innovative Solutions to Protect and Secure UK Interests in Cyberspace.

This call is for research proposals in following areas:

  • Theme 1: Cyber-Spectrum: Innovative spectrum defence technologies or techniques enabling wireless enabled cyber systems to survive in a hostile EM environment. Unconventional techniques and technology for generating cyber effect through the use of Radio Frequency spectrum.
  • Theme 2: Cyber Challenges: Understanding the Future Cyber Environment (information, data, tools & techniques and social-networking opportunities), Supply Chain Security, Cyber Situational Awareness (to improve timely decision making) and Cyber Networks Defence (resilience for fixed and adhoc networks comprising tactical, National, Allied, Coalition and campaign assets) .
  • Theme 3: Influence Though Cyber (Phase 2): Cyber-Influence, On-line / off-line behaviours, Social media monitoring and analysis, Cyber-ethnography or ‘netnography', and Novel Approaches to dynamics of personality, leadership, trust and emotion in on-line settings.

The call will close at 1200 noon on Thursday 8th December 2011 and all proposals must be made via the CDE website.

The MOD's Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE) and Cyber and Influence Science & Technology Centre (C&I STC) are part of the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl).

The C&I STC supports the implementation of the National Cyber Security Strategy across defence involving inter-disciplinary research across the physical, information and human sciences domains into the evolution of cyberspace and its influence on human behaviour. The C&I STC also works across Government to address the capabilities needed to secure the UK's broader interests in cyberspace.
