Venue: Thales Group, Manor Royal, Crawley, West Sussex, RH10 9HA
Background:
Surveillance and Tracking covers a very broad spectrum of technology, ranging across mobile phone tapping and tracking, using CCTV to identify and track suspicious persons and systems to monitor activity around high value locations. Technological developments in these various fields have the potential to offer solutions, but one of the big problems for the technology companies is gaining a proper understanding of the operational requirement of the user community and the issues emerging out of the actual use of this equipment.
SITC has set up this Special Interest Group (SIG) to bring together, in a partnership, the producers of this type of technology, the end user community and the systems integrators who are likely to provide the integrated systems, to enable the development of solutions for the problems facing the user community.
Event Focus:
This inaugural SIG event will focus on one specific challenge for the law enforcement and security agencies: the identification, tracking and surveilling of suspected persons.
The plethora of CCTV in the UK has proved invaluable in post event investigation, but the sheer volume of data gathered diverts substantial resources into this analysis and adds considerably to the time taken to produce a result. This process is crying out for a technological solution.
At the event, end users from the Metropolitan Police and the British Transport Police will articulate their key challenges, needs and opportunities to the other participants.
Booking:
A number of organisations and universities in the UK working in this field are developing video analytics technologies and may, either individually or jointly, have possible solutions for this problem. This inaugural SIG meeting aims to provide a platform to initiate this development.
Invitations are extended to organisations who can demonstrate relevant knowledge and capabilities to contribute to the development of this capability.
Organisations interested in participating in this event should register with Hilary Tonks at htonks@securityintech.com by no later than 1st September 2009.
Registration will commence at 9.30 am with the meeting starting at 10.00 am and running for about four hours.
Thales Group Support:
SITC is grateful to the Thales Group for their support in hosting this initial meeting at their Crawley offices. Although hosted by Thales, please note that this is an independent SITC event and Thales are not involved in selecting attendees or event content.
