Safe Cities STIG

Under the theme of Security of the citizen, SITC has created a Special Transnational Interest Group around a new, exciting initiative called Safe Cities.

SITC has joined forces with the leading market research firm, Frost & Sullivan, to deliver a programme of events focusing on the theme of Safe Cities.  Frost & Sullivan has identified the Rise of Safe Cities as a key mega trend of the future creating opportunities for security solution providers.

The Safe City aims to enhance public security and welfare by deploying networked security systems across several entities in a society to optimise the necessary response from detection to action and may involve:

• An initiative to integrate security solutions across stakeholder groups in a given city to enhance response to security and safety incidents
• The implementation of reliable and all-coverage security measures to counter incidents that a city and its inhabitants are susceptible to
• A combination of civic partners (law enforcement, businesses, and residents) to maintain order and create stability in cities by deploying advanced security systems
• Security concept where key entities of a city work together to identify and act in real-time to security threats of any scale and time

This STIG is open to international participants and will be delivered in partnership with SITC's European partners as part of SIGNATURE: The European Security Innovation Network which receives European funding from INTERREG IVB NWE.

• A Safe Cities Partnering and Consortium-Building Event in September 2011 in London (date TBC)
