Hilary Tonks, who joined SITC in September 2009, brings a wealth of relevant experience as a Personal Assistant and Office Manager.
Prior to joining SITC, she has worked for Cranfield University at Shrivenham from January 2000, joining the University as one of the founder members of the UN funded Cranfield Mine Action Group. In 2003 she was promoted to the position of PA and Office Manager to the Director of Cranfield’s rapidly growing Resilience Centre. This lynch-pin role encompassed providing continuity of support for a team of 20 permanent staff, 14 consultants and 4 academic staff. Amongst myriad tasks performed the role also included synchronisation of complex travel itineraries, co-ordination of senior/middle managers and Technical Advisors management training courses. Fact finding missions to Third World and war torn areas globally were undertaken, culminating in co-ordinating senior management training courses funded by DfiD in Nairobi in 2007.
Previously her career has seen her working in high profile companies within the UK such as Bank of America, Nestle, Balfour Beatty and prestigious companies overseas. Whilst living in Australia she was headhunted for the position of PA/Secretary to the National Manager for Cable TV.
